The last of these indicates the presence of orthogonally polarized modes OPMs. Radio pulsars are highly magnetized, quickly spinning neutron stars that emit radio waves. A non-thermal emission mechanism, not yet understood despite decades of study, is responsible for emission in two beams aligned with the magnetic field axis of the pulsar.
EFOSC2 was designed with this problem in mind.
